Northrup

Hot from the press! I just got out of the 2013 Lifestyle Medicine Summit in Chicago, invited by dr. Melissa Robledo, whose practice I have recently joined, and I can’t wait to share some of today’s wisdoms with the intention of helping you to reach your genetic potential for wellness.

I had a privilege of attending the lecture of dr. Christiane Northrup, the famous OB/GYN, the author of countless books, including Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, The Wisdom of Menopause and The Mother-Daughter Wisdom, to name just a few.
The lecture was called “What Women Really Want”….and was dedicated to creating an awareness of what women really didn’t want, and that was to live an illusion of health, to live based on fear of what they will die of, to live from screening to screening.  Here are some of my notes:

On Breast Cancer Screening

Million women over diagnosed with so-called breast cancer (DCIS) in past 30 years. DCIS stands for stage ZERO breast cancer, which is NOT breast cancer!

Remember my newsletter on thermography? This is what dr. Northrup recommended, if you choose to do the examination at all. Thermography determines the heat in the area of the breast which occurs in the cellular inflammation, which is what the real precursor of cancer IS.

Screening finds things we will “die with, not die from” -W Gilbert Welch, MD   The Body is Self- Healing

In a Norwegian study, 200,000 women between the ages of 50 and 64 were followed for two consecutive six year periods. Half received regular, periodic breast exams or regular mammograms and half had regular breast screenings. Regular screening women had 22 percent more incidents of breast cancer.

Conclusion: the women who didn’t undergo regular screening probably had the same occurrences of breast cancer but their bodies corrected the abnormalities on their own.   Our genes are programmed to cooperate to be well!   With less than 2% of breast cancers being genetic and most of them being a combination of many factors, the epigenetics is most important, epigenetics being the study of change of gene expression!

How about annual Pap tests?
Overuse of the pelvic exam and pap smear contributes to high healthcare costs without any compensatory health benefit and there is NO evidence that routine pap smears and pelvic exams useful in asymptomatic women. Dr. Northrup suggests we put the resources to provide services of proven benefits.

On Childbirth
If you’ve watched the movie The Business of Being Born, you know the sad statistics, but if you haven’t, here are some:

  • U.S. spends $98 billion/year on hospitalization for pregnancy and childbirth
  • U.S. maternal mortality has doubled in past 25 years
  • U.S. Ranks 50th in the world for maternal mortality-49 countries are better at keeping women alive.

 We treat everything as EMERGENCY!

The births are rushed to fit everyone’s schedule – the doctors, the parent’s and we tend to forget that there is “nothing convenient about having a child!” It should come as it pleases without induced labor, with umbilical cord attached for 40 minutes after birth so that the baby can rest on the mother’s heart, its LIFELINE and de-stress!

Current C-section rate in U.S. is 30-50% depending on hospital

Induced labors significantly increase prematurity and C-section rates. With each decreasing week of gestation below 39 to 40 weeks we have an increased risk of complications (e.g. jaundice, infection, RDS, low blood sugar, and time in the hospital).

Let the thing called birth HAPPEN!

Deliveries at 36-38 weeks have 2.5 times number of complications compared to full term. Don’t rush!   On Epidural   Don’t! Estimated cost of unnecessary interventions from epidurals alone is over $3 billion/year. But it is not the cost, it is your health as a woman and the health of your child that matters so much!

Epidural anesthesia increases the wrong fetal position by 400%!

On shame
Menstrual blood is loaded with stem cells are we are shamed by it!!! Don’t be ashamed of it and rest during your periods or else your peri and menopause will become PMS on steroids!

Asian monks don’t get prostate cancer. When they get aroused they acknowledge it and bless it. Western priests condemn it and shame it and they do get prostate cancer!
Women store their pain in their uterus and the G spot!

So what is the secret to women’s health?

Sustainable pleasure, BLISS!

I hope you have learned something new today, a different perspective that of intuitive being, a connected being. The message I want you to take from my writing is that you need not to fear, but you do need to be naturally preventative and pro-active. You have the power to take your wellbeing into your own hands. The doctors can give you all the pills in the world and test you for any diseases that were ever invented, but if you don’t deal with the underlying causes of why you are where you are today, you will not get better.

My message to you is: Take ACTION! As a coach I am giving you the support and TOOLS, I teach you what to eat, how to take care of yourself, how to love yourself, how to detoxify the body, how to recognize food sensitivities. I teach you different perspectives and most of all independent thinking, apart from the media and the collective mind of all the industrial giants. I teach you and I teach myself all the time and I am blessed with great visionaries that are part of my learning journey. I am a women’s coach, a teenage coach and a coach’s coach. Here is what one of my dear client said about working with me:

“Joanna is “the” health coach of the coaches!
She’s my go to person for support, ideas, uplifting and for ways to get un-stuck. She is always welcoming – you can feel the smile even over the phone, she is loving, caring and passionate to help you grow. She is also very direct and honest, will tell you the truth, help you face it and find ways to accept, then love it.

She’s great for starters, because she’s there with the answers for variety of cases and coaching skills. She’s great for the experienced coaches, because she can understand what they’re going through and customize her help accordingly. She’s my health coach and I would recommend her to any coach out there who wants the support of a been-here, done-that , can-help-you-do-better coach!” – Coach BB

Wishing you Bliss,
Coach Joanna
